Thousand Pines Retreat Center - August 21-23, 2015

SUMMERFEST RETREAT Q & A  Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the most common questions are answered here. Don't see your questions, contact the retreat organizer by email at onesinglepassion@aol.com or call 951-440-4201.

Thousand Pines is a beautiful well kept 255-acre retreat center with nice accommodations less than one mile from Lake Gregory in the San Bernardino National Forest. Beat the heat with cooler temperatures here. Cabins and yurts are offered for your stay. When you register, answer a few questions. We place you according to your answers and are happy to find you roommates; and many attend that don't know anyone. We offer many opportunities to build friendships. There's a short walk between the venues, such as the dining hall, Malt Shop, Big Oak Cafe, Jensen Chapel, and the many fun activities. You will need to bring your own bedding and/or a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries and towels. Mattress pads are newer, thick and have very clean accommodations. Carpool coordination offered.

Q.  What happens if I don't know anyone and come alone?
A.   We always have many singles that are attending by themselves that do not know anyone. You're in good hands! We are very friendly and you'll make new friends. We encourage you to attend even if you don't know anyone. We offer group breakout sessions, a fun Friday night meet and greet and other group activities. If you don't have roommate requests, we are happy to find roommates for you. The registrar prays over each selection. Many wonderful friendships have been made this way!

Q.  Where will I stay?
A.  There are two options at the SUMMERFEST SINGLES RETREAT to choose for your stay: cabins or yurts. The number placed in cabins and yurts are based on the numbers that register and registration answers. This is a beautiful and clean retreat center!

Q.  What does the pricing include?
A.   The pricing is per person. The pricing is unheard of and very affordable in hopes that everyone can attend whether single or a single parent family. Normally people coming to a retreat here pay above $200 per person. We keep pricing as low as possible and offer payment plan options. Pricing include the weekend retreat (Fri-Sun Aug 21-23) and five delicious buffet-style meals in the dining hall sitting with our group. Thousand Pines is an amazing place with wonderful amenities and a large amount of fun adventure activities, without even leaving the grounds. Most are free with a few inexpensive optional activities (if you choose to do them). Or, just relax and lay in a hammock or take time alone with God on your free time. Free time is offered on Friday from 4-6:30 PM and Saturday 1-5:30 PM. There are 255 acres of trails and pine trees at Thousand Pines and many fun activities are offered.  Please check out the activities options below.

Q. How many are in a cabin or yurt?
A.  We place the lowest number in the cabins and yurts depending on how many register and the number of cabins and yurts we are given for our group. In 2014, most people chose to stay in a cabin. Some yurts only had 4-6 people. Men and women do not share the same cabin or yurt.

Q.  If I bring my child(ren) will they stay with me?
A.  Yes, parents have their child(ren) sleep in your cabin or yurt. If you bring a child that is not your own, we require that you bring with you a handwritten letter from the parent(s) of the child(ren) stating that they have placed him or her in your care and giving permission to treat the child in case of an emergency. Please make sure the note names you, and includes the parents complete contact information.  During the retreat, if a child(ren) are old enough, they may buddy up with another friend and do fun activities without you, with your permission. You are to know where you're child(ren) are at all times. We do not take responsibility for your children and by attending the retreat, you release and hold all affiliates to the retreat harmless. We do have a children's Bible study teacher and crafts during each retreat session. They will have their own Bible studies over the retreat weekend at all sessions this year. There are many free time activities. We do not offer babysitting but rather encourage you to build memories with your child(ren) that they will treasure and talk about for a lifetime.

Q.  What are the men and women ratio?
A.   That's a great question!  We pray for an even number and don't know until the retreat.  We have people add in at the last moment at retreats. This year, there is an additional $25 charge added for those that register after August 15 the registration deadline. And, as long as we have space, we want to fill all open spots.  We suggest that everyone personally post, share and invite their single friends on social media and by personal invitation. Calling is the best method! Ladies, we are great networkers. Picture this...if each woman attending invites 2-3 single men the result is the retreat would be full and there would be an even ratio of men and women.

Q.  Where is the retreat posted?
A.   The retreat is posted on numerous meetups, Facebook, public posts, Christian events sites  and emailed out via Constant Contact to the Single+Passion Ministries database.  We welcome you to share about this awesome retreat whereever you can post it and hand out flyers!  When posting on social media, include the retreat website link  http://www.SoCalSinglesRetreat.com. There is no retreat like it in So Cal!  This will only be our third year hosting the SUMMERFEST SINGLES RETREAT, August 21-23, 2015.
